Bringing together the best local producers, farmers and providores, the new Belconnen Markets, renamed Capital Food Market, will offer a vibrant day to night venue. Inspired by Barcelona’s La Boqueria, London’s Borough Markets and Torvehallerne in Copenhagen, the creators have gone to an immense effort to find the right mix of producers and hospitality operators to create an artisan food hub and entertainment precinct in Canberra.

Around 50 vendors will reside with a large fresh food area on one side, complemented by food service on the other. Pop-ups and food islands will activate the space with plans for food demonstrations and a rotation of small seasonal traders. Larger restaurants will surround the area offering relaxed specialty dining.

National retailers including Chemist Warehouse, Petbarn, Toyworld and the Elements 4 Life gymnasium chain have already signed leases as well as existing market traders being relocated to the new building.

The markets will operate 7-days with extended trading into the evening. Expected to open mid-2023
